Anti depressive – anti-aging the anti-aging guide anti-wrinkles anti-aging aesthetic medicine

Anti Depressives Depressive disorders have been recorded with man since the beginning of recorded history.

A little history

In the Bible, King David suffered from this affliction. Hippocrates referred to depression as melancholia, which literally means black bile. Black bile, along with blood, phlegm, and yellow bile were the four humors (fluids) that explained the basic medical physiology of that time.

Depression has been portrayed in literature and the arts for hundreds of years, but what do we mean today when we refer to a depressive disorder? In the 19th century, depression was seen as an inherited weakness of temperament. In the first half of the 20th century, Freud linked the development (pathogenesis) of depression to guilt and conflict. John Cheever, the author and a modern day sufferer of depressive disorder, spoke of the conflict and experiences with his parents as an influence on his development of his depression.

In the 1950s and 60s depression was divided into two types, endogenous and neurotic. Endogenous means that the depression comes from the body, possibly genetically. Neurotic or reactive depression has a clear environmental precipitating factor, such as the death of a spouse, or some other significant loss, such as the loss of a job. In the 1970s and 80s, the focus shifted from the cause of depression to its effects on those afflicted

These foods that are good for morale

Thanks to scientific research, we know a little more about the relationship between food and emotional balance. And it’s been proven: certain foods can lift our spirits.

Chocolate is often the spontaneous remedy when “it’s not going well”, when you feel depressed. Its virtues would not come from the substances it contains but from the fact that it is delicious! The greedy pleasure it gives us results in an increase in the blood level of beta-endorphin, an endogenous opiate. It causes an increased secretion of serotonin, a neurotransmitter with soothing properties. Too bad it is so caloric (500 Kcalories per 100 g) and so rich in fat (28 to 30%)…

Coffee is essential for some, in the morning to get started, at noon to leave after lunch… Logical, since its caffeine exerts an exciting action on brain cells, wakes up, stimulates and facilitates digestion. But, taken in excess, coffee irritates and can interfere with sleep, and therefore good nervous recovery. Sugar Carbohydrates (or sugars) provide the “fuel” the brain needs to function properly. When blood sugar levels drop, mood often deteriorates. But consuming sugary energy bars or drinks rich in carbohydrates can have the opposite effects of those we are looking for: it may cause sudden fluctuations in blood sugar levels, and cause fatigue and drowsiness. Yeast and wheat germ can supplement the diet with valuable nutrients for fitness. These are indeed foods very rich in B vitamins and selenium, a deficiency of which can cause a certain apathy or even a feeling of depression, or on the contrary lead to nervousness and irritability. Our advice: Very natural, these supplements help to keep a good emotional and nervous balance, and to react better to stress.

Royal jelly and ginseng Certain products such as royal jelly or ginseng are reputed to give vital energy, promote dynamism, and even reinforce sexual prowess. Something to improve morale! In fact, we are just beginning to know all their constituents, and their effects on the body.

fear of antidepressants

Antidepressants are among the major advances of recent years. They have dramatically improved the treatment of depression. Who are they ?

A psychotropic is a substance capable of modifying psychological and mental activity. This modification can go in the direction of an increase, a decrease or be an anarchic disturbance of alertness and/or mood. From these findings, it is possible to classify the different psychotropics. Antidepressants, sleeping pills (or hypnotics), anxiolytics and neuroleptics are psychotropic drugs. Illegal drugs (cannabis, heroin, cocaine, LSD, ecstasy, etc.) are also psychotropic. Like most medications, psychotropic drugs should always be used within the framework of a prescription or medical advice. In addition, it is advisable to read the instructions carefully to find out about the instructions for use but also the precautions, interactions and side effects.

Antidepressants are medications that boost the mood and emotional state of people with depression.

They are made up of several families:

– Tricyclic antidepressants (or imipramines)

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)

Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) including

part of Prozac.

The latter (SSRIs) have considerably improved the management of depression because their side effects are much less bothersome than with MAOIs and tricyclic antidepressants. Some cause a form of addiction and, in this case, the treatment should not be stopped abruptly.

The hypnotics

Sleeping pills or hypnotics are drugs that inhibit wakefulness and alertness (sedative effect). They are prescribed in case of insomnia and cause normal sleep, that is to say with conservation of sleep cycles. They are very numerous and very varied, they are in particular barbiturates, benzodiazepines, antihistamines or the last generation of hypnotics imidazopyridines and cyclopyrrolones. In prolonged treatment, some of them are capable of causing addiction. Barbiturates are no longer used as sleeping pills these days.

Anxiolytics or minor tranquilizers are, as their name suggests, substances intended to combat anxiety and stress. They are sedative but in higher doses than sleeping pills. At normal doses, they cause drowsiness which makes them incompatible with driving a vehicle. Like sleeping pills, they can induce dependence in prolonged treatment. These are mainly benzodiazepines.

Neuroleptics or major tranquilizers are drugs used to treat psychoses: schizophrenia, manic states, etc. They are sedative and cause psychomotor inhibition (indifference to the outside world). They also have a number of undesirable effects such as: drowsiness, abnormal and uncontrolled movements, hypotension, weight gain, development of the chest in men, etc. Several families of substances are classified as neuroleptics: phenothiazines, butyrophenones and benzamides. There have also recently been so-called “atypical” neuroleptics, which provide innovative therapeutic solutions in psychoses.

Psychodysleptics are substances that interfere with mental activity and alertness. They are not used as medicine and are moreover illicit.
